Welcome to English Summer Learning at ASM

ASM's English Summer Learning Assignments are designed to provide a supportive transition for students to the next academic year. The assignments will help students to keep their minds sharp and stimulated through the long summer break and enable them to practice, develop and refine their English reading and language skills. 

​To access the appropriate summer learning assignments go to either the ​Middle School page or High School page. Then locate your incoming grade level to access the summer learning assignments and PDF copies of the novels.

 A note to students and their families:
​We have tried to include a variety of topics, genres, and styles on the reading lists so that students will find books that they enjoy. Some of the titles were suggested by students, some are award winners, and many are highly acclaimed recent releases.

​Parents may want to assist their child in choosing appropriate novels in consideration of their family’s values and child’s interests and abilities.

Students are encouraged to print a hard copy of their book of choice so they don't have to read the entire book on a screen. 

All students will be expected to complete an in-class essay on their summer reading book within the first two weeks of school.
